After years of holding the picture in my head of my own home on a bit of land that could be a haven both to me and those around me, I had finally moved on and decided that there was room for different dreams and different directions in my life. Then quite suddenly it seemed my husband A & I bought a converted garage (functional, not pretty) on 10 lovely acres of bog & brush and with our 3 cats, moved right in.
For starters I made a very long to do list, and spent all of my time & money trying to acomplish everything on it right away. I now acknowledge that the to-do list has won, it may be a long time before everything on the original list is done. I still feel great accomplishment when I cross something off but it no longer is it the most important thing.
We have added 2 friendly goats to our family, in the hopes that they would eat some of our spare vegetation. Guess again! I have discovered that while we love the goats (Josephine & Penelope), they are much fussier in their choice of diet than I had ever imagined - even with the kitchen scraps. So far carrots and apples seem to be all they like; celery, bellpeppers, cucumbers, even strawberries were left for the flies. Oh well, at least they like blackberry bushes!
